Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. Today, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of affordable housing. Through the work of Habitat, thousands of working-class families have found hope in the form of affordable housing.
Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley, Inc., a registered affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, provides opportunities to families who are ready for homeownership in Gallatin, Park counties, as well as a portion of Madison county. Habitat builds homes and hope for individuals and families who form the working backbone of their communities. By partnering with families to build affordable, decent homes, Habitat creates stability in the community and opportunities for families to flourish. Since being founded in 1991, Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley, Inc. has built 90 homes and completed over 49 critical repairs.
Habitat for Humanity of Gallatin Valley, Inc. has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer services on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
