Information from our members regarding COVID-19.

From Northwestern Energy:

Proactive projects to “harden” NorthWestern Energy’s systems grid are underway. Crews are doing work such as tree trimming in advance of spring and summer storms which will help prevent some possible weather-caused power outages later this year. While most of these activities will not cause an interruption of service, there may be times when short outages are necessary so that the work can be completed safely and efficiently.

Reliability is a responsibility NorthWestern Energy always pursues and it is especially critical during this pandemic. Energy companies plan for emergencies and disasters and prepare to deliver the best response. In a pandemic, mutual aid from other energy companies for events such as severe storms  may not be available. Projects underway now will enhance our systems’ resiliency, which is critical as we prepare to respond to events with the possibility of reduced or no mutual aid resources.

NorthWestern Energy’s crews are working safely: social distancing; using personal protective equipment as directed; and practicing enhanced hygiene. Our equipment and facilities undergo enhanced, regular extensive cleaning.

The majority of the members of the community are respecting our request to give NorthWestern Energy crews six feet of space or more for social distancing. We are grateful.

Suspensions on most disconnections have been in place since March 14 and late fees for households and small businesses facing hardships because of the pandemic are waived.

If members of the community talk to you about seeing NorthWestern Energy doing work on some of the these projects, please share this information with them.

Thank you for all of you are doing as our community works to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and weather this crisis.

If you have questions, concerns or suggestions, please let me know.

All my best to you as always,

Heather Bellamy
