Government Affairs Internship Requirements:

 

Internship Candidates must be an undergraduate or graduate student pursing a degree in political science, urban studies, public policy, or related field.  The position is also open to recent graduates.  The candidate must be highly self-motivated with superior verbal and written communication skills.  Political experience is a plus.  The Government Affairs Department relies on consistent, reliable and efficient communication among its staff to complete projects in a timely manner.  An intern will be expected to contribute to this process.

 

The internship will provide selected candidates with the opportunity to participate in and observe the daily functions of state and local government.  In addition, candidates will be given the opportunity to research and analyze relevant land use, public policy and political issues.  At the conclusion of the internship, interns will have a thorough understanding of government affairs, issue advocacy and local government. 

 

Internship duties include but are not limited to the following:

—Conducting legislative and policy research regarding building industry issues.

 
—Attending local community and governmental meetings on and off site to collect information that will be relayed back to supervisor.


—Drafting correspondence and materials for use with federal, state and local officials in departmental advocacy efforts.

—Planning, coordinating, and facilitating various events involving local, state and federal legislators, representatives and government         

    officials.

 

Supervision/Rate of Pay
Interns will report to Government Affairs Director daily.

Time requirements will be determined by needs of intern. 

Stipend/Scholarship may be available.

Public Relations Internship Requirements:

Internship Candidates must be an undergraduate or graduate student pursing a degree in public relations, communications, marketing or related field.  The position is also open to recent graduates.  The candidate must be highly self-motivated with superior verbal and written communication skills.  The Public Relations Department relies on consistent, reliable and efficient communication among its staff to complete projects in a timely manner.  An intern will be expected to contribute to this process.

 

Internship duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Willingness to take initiative and motivation to seek new learning opportunities

- Desktop publishing, HTML, and related computer skills

- Excellent communication skills

- Flexibility and a good sense of humor

 

Supervision/Rate of Pay

Stipend/Scholarship may be available.

Interns will report to Government Affairs Director daily.
Time requirements will be determined by needs of intern.
