Frequently Asked Questions about
SWMBIA's Call to Action Team
Why
should I join the Call to Action Team?
Decision makers are swayed by the opinions of individuals, not by the
opinion of a single organization. A groundswell of individual correspondence
is more persuasive than one letter from one organization. Expressing your
viewpoint makes a difference!
Who Should
Register?
All SWMBIA
members should register! It is likely you have employees residing and voting
in areas you do business, and keeping them up-to-date and informed about
candidates and issues in their communities creates a stronger voting block
for the industry. After you sign up, encourage your employees to register,
also.
What
am I committing to doing?
A couple of mouse clicks a month. You will receive e-mail alerts about
issues in which you have expressed an interest. You will be asked to respond
via e-mail to decision makers and to pass the alerts on to friends and
colleagues. Easy-to-follow directions will allow you to send prepared
messages, or you can personalize the content to better reflect your views.
The point is to have YOUR opinion heard.
What
is SWMBIA’s Call to Action Team privacy policy?
SWMBIA is very protective of Call to Action Team members and adheres to a
strict privacy policy. All information is for SWMBIA’s Government
Affairs purposes only and will never be sold. You will not receive e-mail
spam. Nothing will be mailed to your home. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Why do
you need my home address?
You vote in the precinct where you reside, and politicians give great weight
to the opinions of their constituents. Your voice is particularly loud when
it reaches decisions makers and politicians who rely upon your vote. In
addition, we will inform you of development issues and meetings in your
community. Again, nothing will be mailed.
Will
my participation make a difference?
YES! Your individual voice will be joined with others who share your views,
providing tremendous leverage. Our elected officials are compelled to listen
to the views of their constituents, and they often base decisions on a
surprisingly small number of opinions. Those opinions should be ours, not
our adversaries’! SWMBIA’s Call to Action Team is democracy in action. It's
a powerful and effective way to have your voice heard!
